The other night I went out to an opening reception: Violent Realities the work of Chicago based photojournalists Jon Lowenstein and Carlos Javier Ortiz. Powerful imagery along with video storytelling and extended captions...although the photographs speak for themselves directly...unfiltered pictures of violence...makes me wonder why the media censors so much of REALITY?

Editors don't want to publish "depressing images" (read: reality) because they are afraid they will lose advertisers.

I've been editing the blog for photojournalist Zoriah Miller (zoriah.net) for about a year and he is one who knows all too well about this.
